Ho for my Bro
*zra76 said: My brother has expressed interest in learning to play golf. Like me, he was always into sports, primarily basketball and baseball and misses the competition and challenge of getting better. He's got some $$ saved up and wants me to help him put together a set. So, what do you think? 3balls golf has a physical location up in MA. Twofast and I went there the other day. They had a bunch of clubs in mediocre shape for cheap. They had a set of Srixon I506's with R300's for $100 in about a 7 condition. They've been there a while so might be able to talk them into $75. For a driver I'd be looking to go 11-12* with a draw bias. I was thinking of a Launcher or maybe an R7460 Draw. Sumo would also be a good deal. For fairways I'll probably just grab a 200steel 4 or 5 wood. We'll have to see about hybrid/fairway in a higher loft. I'd probably try to get him to jump right to a 23* then to a 5iron. I think with wedges I'd just get him 1 to start with. A good SW should suffice. Might just give him my 55* Titty prototype.

*zra76 said: I've always liked the looks of the Srixons. The i701's look great as well. They also had a great deal on TM RAC LT's in good condition. My BIL wants to learn to play as well. I should grab both and let them decide. Looking forward to getting them going. Plenty of short par 4/3 courses around here for them to start on. Would be great to eventually have a 4some with my dad, brother and BIL.
mdd*bya said: The 4some sounds great, I'd give anything if my Dad was still able to play.

*zra76 said: Thanks. I'll take a look at them. I really don't know how much he wants to spend. You know me though, I'm always looking for a good set of irons that costs as much as a dozen balls. http://www.shottalk.com/forum/images/icons/icon10.gif I still should take him to the range again to judge what he needs. It won't matter a whole lot since he's totally beginning. Probably won't be ready for more than a par 3 course for a while.
